New Poem
Hi All,
Spent this weekend at Mother’s for the holiday. Hope your harvest and time of thanksgiving was well spent. Here’s a new poem for you to check out, critique, comment on, whatever.
Janette
The Mother-Daughter Tango
In this contest
Neither will follow
And both fight to see
Who will stay on their feet the longestArms and legs grow weary
As each struggles to take the lead
Toes pulsing painfully
Beneath crushing stepsThey can’t hear the other’s music
Yelling for their songs to be played louder and louder
As the steps grow angry, frenzied
And out of time.Poorly choreographed spins
Flashes of costume, light and dark
The crashing movement of rage
Before the terrified audienceThe tango gives way to crushing defeat
As both collapse beneath
The weight of hurt
And the strain of effortBoth sigh, exhausted
And the crowd goes home
As confetti and memories are swept up
Casualties of the dance.

A fantastic poem which I truly enjoyed reading several times. I especially found the last 4 lines touching my inner core. I wonder, aren’t there ever moment when both could hear the same melody after which they can dance, if not for at least a short while.Thank you for sharing this. You are not only talented but observe with your soul not just your eyes.
A familiar dance seen in many homes. Often there is a male version too.Great incite and expression.

LOL lets try this one more time how about instead of incite …. we use “insight” instead…. of course …..”incite” may have a little to do with some of that dance too
