  • Can’t think of a name for this poem…

    I barely knew him
    but it was beautiful
and had it not been for
    the fireflies creating a
    rope in the air joining
    earth to the stars
    (which looked like
    the heavens reaching down
    with luminous, undulating arms)
and had it not been for
    the ethereal blended sound
    of cicadas, frogs, and crickets
    singing in the midnight air
    wooing their prospective lovers
    with mournful, seductive cries
and had it not been for
the fact I was lonely now
for way too long, he might not
have drawn me down and down
    with myrrh soaked kisses
    onto the silky wet bed
    of dew slicked grass.

  • I really like this one because there’s nothing more primal and innocent than getting to know someone new on an intimate level.  All of a sudden, even mundane things in life are new again … or at least noticed in a new perspective …

  • Hi. Thanks for the 5 tidbits about yourself. It’s nice to get to know more about the person behind the words. I’m very impressed about all your languages! I go back & forth about the idea of kids myself. I know it’s a very personal issue. Pets are our kids, though don’t you think?  This piece just flows so well. There is something strong about the pull of nature.

  • LOL…that pic of Boy George IS horrifying, isn’t it!

  • very powerfully written I must say…

  • I love this poem, but man, I can’t think of a title. Sometimes, though, naming it “Untitled” is okay.

  • Oh wow, I love the fireflies creating a rope to the stars
    beautiful
    As far as a title
    I stink at titles
but you might try a line from the poem
since each line is lovely by itself

  • How about: In Memory of Erica Jong.  : )

  • Surrender

  • Great writing. The title that came to my mind was ‘Luminous.’ Thank you so much for coming by and subscribing-love getting to know people, and experiencing their writing/lives.

  • Hello Jan, this poem is really good. I like the title  ‘Surrender’.
I am not a good poet and even worse with titling them,.

I like that he kissed her with myrrh.

    Take care

    Peace and Love:)
