  • Hello,

Here are a few new poems that I wrote over the weekend.  Your feedback is always coveted and appreciated.

One word about the poems:  these are BRIK poems.  It is a modern form invented by Frank Anthony that he created for dream analysis.  They are written in courier font, are 13 lines long, and each line is 22 characters across.  Also, the title of the poem should also be 22 characters.  When you finish, it should look like a rectangle.  I did this post in courier font so you can see what it should look like.

Once you try them, they are like potato chips or chocolate:  very addictive!  If you decided that you want to try one, please let me know, I’d love to see it!

    Thanks,

    Janette (keep reading for poems)

Please note:  The poems are not normally double spaced, but I can’t seem to get it to go to the next line instead of skipping one after hitting the enter key.

    The Wounds of Religion

    If all experience is a

    mist and the sum total

of the years in a life

    are a flicker of light

    in a darkened sky Then

    why gods and goddesses

    have you placed in the

    hearts of mankind such

    cruelty that the short

    time we possess breath

    We persecute daughters

    and sons who listen to

    individual consciences

    Meditations on Goodbye

    She remembered a while

    in the initial days of

    their coupling how she

    loved the touch of his

    body stretched against

    hers and how her flesh

    welcomed the burden of

    his body warm and firm

    pushing itself between

    her legs and into soft

    wanton pleasure before

    his words became cruel

    abusive killing knives

  • Oh that is very well done. I find the form to be very challenging and strong. It is stark and blunt, like being hit with that brick. Excellent.

  • Wow, difficult form, but nice. It’s a talent I don’t have, but I do admire. :)
